Amazon EventBridge introduces support for cross-Region event bus targets

Amazon EventBridge now supports cross-Region event bus as a target, allowing customers to aggregate events in a central Region. Customers can now have all their event information in one place. This makes it easier for developers to find those events and write code that reacts to them, manage permissions for access to sensitive events, and generate insights that stem from events generated across the entire organization. Customers can also reduce operational burden by removing the need to manage duplicate infrastructure in multiple Regions.

EventBridge is a serverless event bus that enables you to create scalable event-driven applications by routing events between your own applications, third-party SaaS applications, and other AWS services. You can set up routing rules to determine where to send your data, allowing for application architectures to react to changes in your data and systems as they occur. Amazon EventBridge makes it easy to build event-driven applications because it takes care of event ingestion, delivery, security, authorization, and error handling.

To enable cross-Region event bus targets, you only need to specify the Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the event bus in one of the supported destination Regions: N. Virginia (us-east-1), Oregon (us-west-2), and Ireland (eu-west-1). You can use this across any account as the target for any new or existing rule, and EventBridge take cares of routing the events to the destination Region. You can also use resource-based policies to manage permissions on your event bus at a granular level to control which events can flow through your accounts across different Regions.

You can get started using the AWS Management Console or using the APIs. With a few quick steps, you can start sending events to event buses in a destination Region. You can send cross-Region events from the following Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon and N. California), Middle East (Bahrain), EU (Ireland, Stockholm, Paris), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney), with more Regions to follow.
