AWS Client VPN now supports SAML based federated authentication for opening a VPN connection from a Linux Desktop Operating system (Ubuntu 64bit 18.04 and 20.04 LTS). The Linux Desktop client has feature parity with the existing Windows and macOS Desktop clients. AWS Client VPN Desktop Clients are available free of charge, and can be downloaded here.
AWS Client VPN helps you provide highly available and secure VPN access to all of your employees, regardless of their location. AWS Client VPN is a pay-as-you-go fully-managed service, eliminating the need to deal with the capital expense of buying hardware VPN appliances, or the operational complexity of scaling and patching. Customers can choose certificate-based, Active Directory, or SAML based authentication, and benefit from tighter security controls by defining access control rules based on groups. Using a single console, you monitor and manage all of your VPN connections. AWS Client VPN allows you to choose from AWS VPN Desktop Client or OpenVPN-based clients, giving your employees the option to use the device of their choice, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Linux.
