You can now run OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards version 2.5 in Amazon OpenSearch Service. With OpenSearch 2.5, OpenSearch Service adds several new features and enhancements such as support for Security Analytics, support for Point in Time Search, improvements to observability and geospatial functionality.
The OpenSearch 2.5 release in OpenSearch Service includes features that were launched as part of open source OpenSearch versions 2.4 and 2.5. Some of the key improvements include the introduction of a new security analytics plugin that helps you identify attack signatures, create alerts from security findings, and visualize threat patterns using dashboards, observability improvements such as the ability to visualize metrics data from the open-source Prometheus monitoring solution as well as from log data aggregated within OpenSearch, and ability to analyze trace data collected by the widely adopted open-source Jaeger tools. This release also includes support for Point in Time Search to provide the ability to run different queries against a dataset that is fixed in time, improvements to geospatial capabilities and map visualizations such as support for two new data field types (xy point and xy shape) and GeoHex Grid aggregation. For a complete list of new features and improvements, please see the release notes for OpenSearch versions 2.4 and 2.5.
