Amazon CloudWatch now supports data querying from multiple sources, enabling you to gain visibility across your hybrid and multicloud metrics in a single view. With this feature, you can consolidate and visualize metrics from sources such as Amazon OpenSearch Service, Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, Azure Monitor, your own custom data sources, and query those metrics in real time, increasing visibility into your application health and helping you resolve critical events faster.
CloudWatch allows you to overlay data from multiple sources onto the same graphs and dashboards without the extra cost of duplicating metrics or switching tools. You can also create alarms on metrics across your AWS, on-premise and multicloud data sources to detect complex issues. You can also leverage multi-data source querying to add more context to your metrics with data from a database or a file, such as adding KPI data stored in Amazon RDS, or in a file on Amazon S3.
This feature is now available in all AWS Regions except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, China (Beijing, operated by Sinnet), and China (Ningxia, operated by NWCD) Regions. You only pay for the resources you use, such as alarms and custom dashboards you create, and execution of AWS Lambda functions that retrieve the data from your data sources.
To get started, go to Metrics in the CloudWatch console, open the query tab, and use the data source selector to configure a new data source. See the CloudWatch User Guide for the list of pre-built data sources, as well as our blog post for guidance on how to get started.
