Stable, Secure, and Scalable: My Experience with Windows Server 2019 Base

    Reviewed on Mar 18, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Windows Server 2019 Base is its stability and security features. It offers excellent integration with both on-premises and cloud environments, making it great for hybrid setups. The performance is solid, and it supports a range of applications, whether you’re working with legacy systems or modern cloud-based tools. Plus, its enhanced security features, like Shielded Virtual Machines and improved Windows Defender, give me peace of mind that our data is well protected.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I’ve noticed is that while it’s stable, it can be a bit resource-heavy compared to some lightweight alternatives, especially when running multiple services. Additionally, certain configurations or updates can be time-consuming and require manual adjustments, which can sometimes slow things down. But overall, these are minor inconveniences compared to the reliability and features it offers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Base solves several key challenges when it comes to managing AWS infrastructure. One of the main problems it addresses is the seamless integration between on-premises environments and AWS cloud services. This allows us to easily migrate workloads between local servers and AWS, ensuring consistency and minimal disruption. It also provides strong support for hybrid cloud configurations, enabling us to extend our on-premises network to AWS without compromising security or performance. The enhanced security features, like Windows Defender and Shielded Virtual Machines, are particularly beneficial for safeguarding our cloud-hosted applications. This integration, combined with its robust performance, allows us to scale efficiently while ensuring that both our on-premises and cloud environments are secure and well-managed.

What do you like best about the product?
This service allowed for deployment of an operating system allows us to install the most up to date software packages and tools securely in a server environment to use in our environment and provide secure file sharing. The capability is limitless if you have the knowledge base for deploying software in a server environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The basic UI leaves more to be desired and the someo of the documentation around the services for deployment is a bit hard to find. I would like to see updates to the console/ui for management

Deployment of Server 2019 base allows us to manage our users and services within our department and provide hosts for services that we purchase from software packages to solve problems in our environment
