This product has charges associated with it for support, maintenance, and pre-configuration to be instantaneously deployed on AWS Marketplace with all security and enterprise standards. Squid Proxy Server Image is packaged to leverage cost-effectiveness, scalability, and flexibility.
This a ready-to-run and pre-configuredSquid Easy Caching Proxy Server for CentOS Stream 9 Image has a wide variety of uses, including speeding up a web server by caching repeated requests, caching web, DNS, and other computer network lookups for a group of people sharing network resources, and aiding security by filtering traffic.
After Squid Easy Caching Proxy Server for CentOS Stream 9 is installed, web browsers can be configured to use it as a proxy HTTP server, allowing Squid to retain copies of the documents returned, which, on repeated requests for the same documents, can reduce access time as well as bandwidth consumption. It can be useful for Internet service providers to increase speed to their customers, and LANs that share an Internet connection.
Features:
Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process over IPv4 or IPv6.
Squid keeps metadata and especially hot objects cached in RAM
Caches DNS lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups
Implements negative caching of failed requests.
Squid supports SSL, extensive access controls, and full request logging.
By using the lightweight Internet Cache Protocol, Squid caches can be arranged in a hierarchy or mesh for additional bandwidth savings.
Although primarily used for HTTP and FTP, Squid includes limited support for several other protocols including Internet Gopher, SSL, TLS, and HTTPS.
Highlights
Rich access control, authorization, and logging environment to develop web proxy and content serving applications
Rich set of traffic optimization options, most of which are enabled by default
An excellent solution to a variety of proxy and caching server needs, and scales from the branch office to enterprise level networks while providing extensive, granular access control mechanisms

If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software, billed per the EC2 instance size you run it on. The dimensions all represent the same proxy and caching server image, just deployed on different instance types. These span general-purpose families like t2, t3, t3a, m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5ad, m5n, and m5dn. Sizes range from nano and micro up to large metal instances. Your hourly cost rises as you choose instances with more CPU and memory. Pick the size that matches your traffic and caching load. All run the same ready-to-use software.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for this proxy server?
You pay for each hour the EC2 instance runs with the software deployed. The hour reflects wall-clock running time on the chosen instance type. The rate reflects both the software license and the instance size. Stopped or terminated instances stop accruing software charges.
Am I charged when the proxy server instance is stopped or powered off?
The software license meters running hours only. When you stop or terminate an instance, software charges stop. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the software itself does not accrue hourly charges during that time.
How do I pick the right instance type for my caching traffic?
Each dimension runs the same proxy and caching image on a different EC2 instance type. Smaller sizes like nano and micro suit light traffic. Larger sizes like 24xlarge and metal handle heavier caching loads. Your hourly cost rises with more CPU and memory. Match the size to your expected traffic.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
