You pay by the hour for this Terraform image on Ubuntu 24.04, with software support included. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, you pick the AWS EC2 instance type that fits your workload, and each instance size carries its own hourly rate. The many options span general purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, GPU, and high-memory metal instances. Smaller instances cost less per hour; larger ones cost more as vCPU, memory, and hardware resources increase. You run the software as long as needed and stop billing by stopping the instance.

What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
You get a preconfigured Ubuntu 24.04 server running the open-source Terraform automation tool, plus software support. The hourly rate maps to the AWS EC2 instance you choose. Larger instance types give more vCPU, memory, and hardware resources, which is why their hourly rate is higher.
Am I still charged if I stop or power off the instance?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. If you stop the instance, hourly software billing stops. Note that underlying AWS storage or other resources tied to a stopped instance may still incur separate AWS fees. To end all software charges, stop or terminate the instance.
Is this billed hourly with no upfront commitment, or do I commit in advance?
Billing is usage-based by the hour. You do not commit upfront. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, at the rate for that instance type. This suits variable or short-term Terraform workloads, since you start and stop instances as needed and billing follows actual runtime.
