Fivecast needed to scale the AWS architecture supporting its AI-powered threat intelligence platform as demand grew across global markets. To maintain customer data sovereignty and isolation, the company evolved a highly automated single-tenant architecture that deploys a dedicated environment for each customer. As a result, Fivecast can absorb workload spikes of up to 10 times normal levels and accelerate the delivery of new capabilities. It can also improve cloud cost effectiveness, support continued growth without infrastructure becoming a constraint, and meet stringent data sovereignty and security compliance requirements.

Opportunity | Supporting global growth under strict sovereignty requirements
Fivecast’s AI-powered threat intelligence platform collects publicly and commercially available information from millions of sources, including the dark web, and uses machine learning and AI to surface relevant risk signals for human analysts.
As the company expanded internationally, it needed to scale the AWS architecture supporting its platform to meet growing demand and sudden spikes in activity driven by their customers’ missions. At the same time, government and defense customers required strict data sovereignty and isolation, with each environment kept separate while meeting regional compliance requirements.
Supporting hundreds or thousands of isolated customer environments using traditional infrastructure would have increased complexity and costs. Fivecast therefore sought a scalable, cost-effective way to automate deployment and management while maintaining customer data sovereignty.
Solution | Scaling secure threat intelligence environments on AWS
Fivecvast evolved its AWS architecture using a single-tenant model, where each customer receives a dedicated AWS account containing the full application stack. This includessecurity controls, application services, data processing, and analytics capabilities.
Using infrastructure as code based on Terraform, Fivecast automated the deployment and management of customer environments. With a single service ticket, Fivecast can provide a fully configured customer environment, complete with the appropriate guardrails and service control policies. “We built on the shoulders of AWS, creating a degree of segregation that is distinct to our business and meets customers’ compliance needs,” says David Blockow, co-founder and CTO of Fivecast.
The platform runs on core AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for processing workloads and Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) for high-performance storage. To support growth efficiently, Fivecast also modernized its application architecture using containers, deploying workloads on AWS Fargate with Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) managing orchestration and scaling. “We’d learned enough about our application to understand where decoupling into microservices would help optimize scaling,” says Blockow.
As demand for an AI-powered open-source intelligence (OSINT)platform increased, Fivecast worked with AWS Solutions Architects to expand its use of generative AI. The company built a solution using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Nova models to analyze large volumes of media, helping identify relevant content for further investigation. Fivecast also leverages Amazon Rekognition to enhance image processing and analysis capabilities across its platform.
Outcome | Absorbing 10x workload spikes while scaling globally
Fivecast has strengthened its ability to support government, defense, and commercial customers by evolving a platform that can scale rapidly without compromising security or customer isolation requirements. In early 2026, the company onboarded two new enterprise customers and absorbed a tenfold increase in workloads.
By automating the deployment and management of customer environments, Fivecast has accelerated time to market with 95 percent faster environment provisioning, while reducing operational overhead by 80 percent. The company can scale customer workloads efficiently while maintaining the operational model required to support highly regulated environments.
Fivecast continues to grow its global customer base and has earned recognition through the Department of Defense Innovation, Science and Technology Excellence Impact Award. Having built trusted relationships with more than 40 government agencies, Fivecast is now applying the same capabilities to help commercial organizations address challenges such as fraud, financial crime, and risk monitoring, and insider threat detection.
