Usage instructions
If you choose to deploy our porduct using our complementary CloudFOrmation file, follow thees instructions:
- Make sure you are logged in to the AWS Console.
- Make sure you are in the correct region where you deployed our product.
- Go to the CloudFormation console.
- Select our product stack.
- In the top right corner, click the Update button.
- In the Prerequisite - Prepare template section, click on Replace existing template.
- In the Specify template section, select Amazon S3 URL.
- In the Amazon S3 URL input field, paste the URL to our CloudFormation file: https://s3.amazonaws.com/0x4447-drive-cloudformation/samba-server.json.
- Click the orange button in the lower right corner labeled Next.
- On the next page, scroll down and click the orange button in the lower right corner labeled Next.
- On the next page, scroll down and click the orange button in the lower right corner labeled Next.
- On the next page, scroll down to the Capabilities section, and select I acknowledge that AWS CloudFormation might create IAM resources with custom names.
- Scroll down and click the orange button in the lower right corner labeled Submit.
- After this last step, AWS will start updating the product for you.
If you choose to do the setup by hand:
- update the EC2 instance you created with the new version of the AMI.

Easy and fastest solution to deploy Samba server
This is by far the easiest solution to create and run a Samba server. All you have to do is create EBS volume and then add them in User Data. Those volumes will be available to your users as a share :)
The implementation is also very easy, they have easy to follow documentation available that explains how to set up the server.
It is also highly scalable, resilient, and secure since Administration access i.e SSH is disabled by default.
Highly recommend to anyone who doesn't want to go through the manual process of setting up their own Samba server and waste time learning complicated configurations.
Easy to install file sharing solution for AWS Linux instances
I managed to install this cheap Samba server in less then half an hour and could share files between multiple Linux EC2 instances, and all that without even configuring the server. Really easy to use and works like a charm. And all that in a very secure manner.

awesome and easy to use
This samba server was so easy to set up. The fact that it automatically serves EBS drives using guest access out of the box would mean we don't need to even SSH to it to configure it. This is a great plug and play solution for those who want to share EBS drives within their corporate network. I also liked the fact that is secure by not allowing root access and is automatically restricted to client systems on the LAN.
