    Overview

Redis®* Server on Ubuntu Server 20.04

Redis®* is an open source (BSD licensed), in-memory data structure store, used as a redis database, redis cache, and message broker. Redis provides data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries, bitmaps, hyperloglogs, geospatial indexes, and streams. Redis has built-in replication, Lua scripting, LRU eviction, transactions, and different levels of on-disk persistence, and provides high availability via Redis Sentinel and automatic partitioning with Redis Cluster.

To achieve top performance, Redis works with an in-memory dataset. Depending on your use case, you can persist your data either by periodically dumping the dataset to disk or by appending each command to a disk-based log. You can also disable persistence if you just need a feature-rich, networked, in-memory cache. All Redis data resides in the servers main memory, in contrast to databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MongoDB and others that store most data on disk or on SSDs.

Redis also supports asynchronous replication, with very fast non-blocking first synchronization, auto-reconnection with partial resynchronization on net split.

Redis® Server Features: Versatile data structures Transactions Pub/Sub Lua scripting Geospatial Keys with a limited time-to-live LRU eviction of keys Cluster / Automatic failover Supported languages include Java, Python, PHP, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, Ruby, R, Go and many others.

    Highlights

    • Use Redis® on AWS to provide a cache for your applications running on AWS. Supports high availability. Easily create a Redis Cache Cluster on AWS.
    • Redis® provides data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries, bitmaps, hyperloglogs, geospatial indexes, and streams. Redis has built-in replication, Lua scripting, LRU eviction, transactions, and different levels of on-disk persistence, and provides high availability via Redis Sentinel and automatic partitioning with Redis Cluster.
    • Redis® stores the whole dataset in primary memory that's why it is extremely fast. Redis supports sharding. It is very easy to distribute the dataset across multiple Redis instances, like other key-value store.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
