    Overview

Nextira, part of Accenture, and AMD are partnering to release a user-friendly, cost-efficient solution called the Accenture HPC Accelerator on the AWS Marketplace that enables clients to preconfigure and create high-performance compute (HPC) clusters supercharged by the latest generations of AMD EPYC™ CPUs, and using Accenture's reference base HPC architecture for ParallelCluster. This app's simple UI creates a cluster in AWS ParallelCluster and comes preinstalled with OpenFOAM for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) workloads.

To get started, connect your active AWS account in the Accenture HPC Accelerator and begin configuring your cluster. The Accenture HPC Accelerator guides you through the HPC cluster creation process and provides the optimal AMD hardware options for your workload. Once your cluster is configured, the Accenture HPC Accelerator will automatically deploy your cluster, then provide you with a link to login to the cluster and begin running and visualizing your workloads.

    What is AWS ParallelCluster?

AWS ParallelCluster is a free, open-source tool that helps you deploy and manage HPC clusters on AWS. Networking, storage and compute are all automatically tailored for CFD use cases.

    What is OpenFOAM?

OpenFOAM is a free, open-source computational fluid dynamics software used by a wide range of engineers and scientists in a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, marine and energy. OpenFOAM has a powerful and flexible set of features that allow it to solve a wide range of fluid flow problems, including those involving complex geometries, chemical reactions and turbulence.

    • Amazon ECS
    Container image

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

Visit this url in order to quickly launch your application. Fill out the details and a CFN template will be provided for launching the HPC Accelerator on ECS Fargate.

    http://hpc-accelerator-launcher.s3-website.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/

Please note, by proceeding you are acknowledging that inputting an IP address cidr block of any form of 0.0.0.0 will result in anyone with the link to your HPC Accelerator application having the ability to build/manage clusters in your AWS account. It is advised to use your own personal IP address or one provided by your company.

The email you provide will not be shared with Accenture. You should receive a welcome email shortly after the application launch begins. It is possible this email will get put in your spam folder or blocked altogether by your security team. If you do not see an email, please check your spam folder or contact your security team.

The URL of the application will be shown in the CloudFormation stack's "Output" tab.

Once the stack has finished building, it might take a minute or so before the application is runnable. Visiting the link too early might result in the application hanging on 'Checking AWS role credentials.' However, if you do visit the application too quickly and see it hanging, simply refreshing the page should fix the issue.

Please do not delete the cloudformation stack if you have an existing HPC cluster built from using the HPC Accelerator. Deleting the application will NOT delete existing HPC Clusters. Please delete all clusters by using the application or you will have to manually delete all resources after the cloudformation stack was deleted.

The below command for pulling the docker registries will not work locally. The containers are built to specifically run on AWS ECS, so pulling the containers and attempting to run them locally will fail. It is possible to pull them and put them on ECS yourself, but it is a much more complicated task. Using the provided link will trivialize this task.
