  • September 19, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:

Highly transparent, all changes get authored via Terraform
Good cardinality - Multiple targeting rules and variations supported.
Easy to use and view the configurations.
Role-based access control.
Good support from the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only 250 members can be onboarded onto the enterprise team. This is a problem for large organisation like ours because we have to remove the members on LRU basis to onboard new ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LaunchDarkly is helping us enable A/B experiments on the fly.
Moreover we have authored many feature rollouts via config driven approach.

Feature Management

  • September 19, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
LaunchDarkly is ability to provide real-time feature flagging, allowing seamless control over feature rollouts. It empowers teams to deliver new features safely while minimizing risks and ensuring a smooth user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
limitation of LaunchDarkly is that its analytics and reporting features could be more detailed, especially for tracking the long-term impact of feature flags. Also, managing a large number of flags across multiple environments can sometimes feel cumbersome without better organizational tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LaunchDarkly solves the problem of safely managing feature releases by providing real-time feature flagging, which helps avoid risky, large-scale deployments. It allows us to gradually roll out new features, test in production, and instantly roll back if needed, reducing downtime and ensuring a smoother user experience. This flexibility accelerates development cycles and improves overall product stability.

The new UI interface is buggy and needs a lot of improvements before being shipped to users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Launch darkly allows us to easily gate our features and A/B test them before 100% rollout.

* Intuitive UX
* Versioning capabilities
* Variants support
* Code support, and ability to codify the workflow
* Cache/Relay support, Cost Effective for Large scale usecases
* Developer friendly
What do you dislike about the product?
* Experimentation support could be improved and it can evolve as the single platform for all feature rollouts.
* Domain specific UX and approval workflows could be supported, this could extend it to non dev community too.

Streamlined Feature Flag Management with Robust Control

  • September 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In production environments, LaunchDarkly is basically a life saver for managing feature flags. It provides to manage feature rollouts and do canary releases, with minimum risk What makes it great is that BJ works with our existing CI/CD pipeline so well, that its integration has been incredibly efficient. This type of flexibility in targeting a specific users segment and turning on or off features while it is running is really valuable. Better control — e.g., ability to test new features without disrupting the entire community leading to faster iterations.
What do you dislike about the product?
LaunchDarkly is a powerful service to use for this, but its navigation could be more intuitive given how many feature flags you have. It also has more expensive pricing than others, which may not be very accessible for small teams or organizations. Once you get to more complex rules there is a learning curve — so slightly ease of use is needed when setting those up. Having more robust reporting features, too, so teams can examine how their flags have performed over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is where LaunchDarkly comes into its own, helping manage feature launches in multiple environments gracefully to avoid disruptions or downtime. This makes it possible to separate feature deployment from code releases, which provides us the option of testing and iterating on features in real-time. This significantly increased the speed and confidence with which we could roll out updates. When we roll out new features to specific user segments, it allows us to gauge user feedback early and helps prevent bugs or performance issues from disrupting the entire audience. Which in the end makes for cleaner, more organized releases which your users are then benefiting from and with that allowing you to proceed further.
