Seamless
What do you like best about the product?
I can enable and disable integrations with a variety of platforms without having to edit my codebase - it's actually pretty amazing how simple it is.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to review an integration - it would be cool to be able to say "Segment + Intercom is a great experience, it works as well as integrating directly" or "You lose some flexibility if you integrate through Segment".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We integrate with a variety of platforms, so it's nice to be able to only have to deal with one API.
Benefits realized would be saved time.

Very useful product
What do you like best about the product?
Allows you to enable many extensions by just including the snippet for segment once in your code.
What do you dislike about the product?
The segment debugger isn't the most useful when you're trying to figure out whether your data is being sent to all the extensions you enabled correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are many analytics tools out there and without segment you would have to add them to your application one by one, which is a very tedious process. With segment, you only have to include segment once.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Useful when you have a lot of analytics software you want to use in your application.
Apparently a new user.
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to include multiple analytics scripts from single dashboard.
Interface is also nice.
Debugger is quite handy to check for events in realtime.

What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is too high for a startup. If you use it for free you are limited to use one source only.
Also, many times i have encountered a problem that segmentjs take forever to load or does not load at all.
Also, many times i have encountered a problem that segmentjs take forever to load or does not load at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Adding and testing new analytics tools like woopra and mouseflow are a breeze.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you can afford it, go for it for sure.
Great service for sending data to multiple sources
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use their API, and super easy to setup multiple sources to send that data to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike. Everything is super simple to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us easily analyze and understand customer behavior, and allow us to create campaigns targeted to customers.
Great if you have to use a lot of metric services
What do you like best about the product?
Each metric service is good at different things, and you may not know which is the best for you in the beginning or when you're trying to measure something new. Even when you've been doing metrics for a while and don't want to have to make three separate api calls on one event. Also great way to just test your analytics are working with their debug feature
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! I think it's a great tool and we'll keep using it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics are hard and anything that makes them easier will help you measure everything better
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's actually really great that I don't have to use it that often. More integrations, I guess?
My go-to tool for analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Quick and easy way to plug any analytics tool into any JavaScript application. My company's marketing people love mixpanel, our devs prefer keen.io, some people are using KISSmetrics, but with segment everybody's happy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The 2 big problems I've had are that analytics.js doesn't work with react native and that there's no easy way to filter events from segment's UI: if you want certain events to only go to certain sources, you need to implement that in your code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now have a central solution for tracking user behavior and app performance, which makes it easy for us to dump data into whichever analytics tool works best - mixpanel, keen.io, amazon redshift, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it. Stop copy/pasting tracking snippets.
Perfect for developers who are sick of including 14 conversion scripts
What do you like best about the product?
I love that project stakeholders no longer have to come to me to update conversion scripts, also I love that I no longer have to set different events for twitter, facebook, GA conversions!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really, except that now that I'm not constantly bugged about implementing a different facebook ad script I'm starting to get worried about my company needing me!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of marketers to track conversion events in one place instead of many.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have a free option that allows for 50,000 API calls which should be enough for you to realize that the software is super useful!
Organization in an unorganized world
What do you like best about the product?
Love the UI/UX. Great number of potential integrations. Easily add multiple data streams to one place. Works with nearly every one of the products we use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is a bit on the high side. Tough for a new startup to handle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy access to all stats in one place. Not spending the time to login and check 10 different data sources.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None! Just dive in and have fun.
Best in class multiplexer for any data-driven organization
What do you like best about the product?
In addition to integrating with nearly every third-party tool imaginable, the actual API itself reflects best practices in tracking. The presence of both server and client side tracking tools ensures that data is always collected as close to the source as possible. Reliability has been near perfect so far. Support is top notch and bugs are few and far between. Price is generally fair, given the amount of value they provide.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if there was a built-in mechanism to provide client-side only integrations (such as Facebook ads) data from the server-side. Something analogous to Google Tag Manager's "dataLayer". Pricing for Warehouses offering is less reasonable. Would be nice if there was a more graceful tool-by-tool off of Segment (as adoption of certain tools become mature and more advanced functionality is necessary, it becomes less appropriate to multiplex them through Segment - but you don't really want to turn the integration off entirely while making that transition).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Use to hook up all marketing and engagement tools to real-time activities from our production systems. Powers our email system through Customer.io, our analytics through Google Analytics and Mixpanel, our A/B testing through Optimizely - the list goes on. Allows us to try new tools in no time at all, with next to no developer involvement. Eliminates the need for in-house devs to spend a lot of time ramping up on each tool's API, only to discover that the tool was not a good fit for the company.
Great for getting analytics data to any service
What do you like best about the product?
I think segment is best for early stage companies who want to test out lots of other services... One integration allows you to pipe your data pretty much anywhere you want. It keeps the codebase organized and uncluttered and lets developers focus on building features. They also have some cool features like self hosted data warehouses that can be pretty powerful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only issue with Segment is that it's not really necessary unless you're trying to remove all implementation decisions away from engineers when building an ETL pipeline... And also, unless you really want to push your data to a ton of places (which you probably shouldn't care about), then there's no reason to use it. Lastly using Segment restrains you to their implementation and you don't always get to leverage more advanced integration features from external services you would get from direct implementation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Segment right now to pipe our event based application data to a few different services including google analytics, tag manager, heap, and customerio
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would only invest time in using it if you don't have any engineers on your team with ETL experience, or if you want to test out a lot of data services at once without having to fuss with implementation details.
