    Education Management

The best tool for team communications

  • September 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s easy to set up group chats, channels and additionally to use private messaging. The text options allow for dev code to be sent easily without appearing as standard conversational text. There’s a mobile application making it great for use on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile application doesn’t produce notifications even when correctly configured to do so. It’s a known bug according to online sources. The app also gets buggy when sending images.
It’s sometimes a little inconvenient that messages disappear after three days. I don’t know if this can be configured per system, but it isn’t a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves all of our internal communications requirements. It is a simple, easy way to chat to colleagues instead of constantly sending emails to and fro, and additionally you can send inline code which is formatted effectively.

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Rocket.Chat is a good software to use within organisation for internal communication. It is good for file sharing, video/voice calls and also for screen sharing. It is also good for group chat and working with rooms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not instantly updating the status of messages, it still shows messages as unread for some time even after we read the messages. Not getting notifications some time for groups. Not a very good software for communication.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very useful while need to communicate to the person of same organisation. Very helpful to communicate by screensharing.

Rocket Chat client still needs some upgrades

  • June 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a very light and user friendly interface as an on-premises alternative to Skype and other public or cloud-based options. The interface is very intuitive and not heavy at all on the computer or laptop. Our needs included group chat which is quite easy to use with the Rocket Chat client.

We worked with the opensource/free option.
What do you dislike about the product?
It still lacks a lot of important features. It should have a password locking system for the system configuration to use in an office/business environment, so that only the sysadmin can make changes to it. Also there should be an option to enforce OTR encryption on all conversations, rather than having to do it one by one.

Also the code is supposed to be available to modify the client as needed and recompile it for a custom deployment; it's nearly impossible to compile. We encountered tons of errors due to libraries and other details, and there is very little documentation on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All opensource chat clients are either not user friendly (too techie) or lack x y z features: Gajim, Pidgin, Jitsi, etc. Rocket Chat seemed to integrate pretty much all we needed, making it a viable option to replace even public insecure chat systems such as Skype.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it... it is great for the most part. Some of our needs were a tiny bit more than average.

What do you like best about the product?
This product is great because it’s opensources, regularly updates and more importantly free!
What do you dislike about the product?
We are currently using the self hosted solution, which has a few issues in terms of stability . However these are our own concerns. We would like to move to the cloud solution in the future but generally the product is fantastic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified comms across the business
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get a trial, self host it, do it!

Excellent chat management platform for businesses and community chats

  • June 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Rocket.Chat has great documentation, very powerful to customise and make it your own. Integrates well with many platforms and can be used to replace almost any current solution with little adjustment time. The live chat feature is great, implementing this with other providers is overly complicated compared.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing but pricing can be seen as expensive if you are looking for a cloud-based solution. Also, the whole pricing side of things can be a bit confusing until explained. The need to manage this as an additional service outside of the current technology stack adds another concern.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest improvement has been using it for customer service, implementing workflows for support requests all going through one platform. Also great for communities looking to break away from other mainstream solutions. It really is cheap and comparable to the big players in this sector and really worth considering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try, you won't regret it, the platform looks overly complicated to configure but actually has great documentation and can be customised to fit your business. The reason we found it was because of the live chat functionality on the website.

Good chat app for work

  • June 05, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to tag other users in chat to make sure the correct people are seeing the chat
What do you dislike about the product?
The actual desktop app is pretty "glitchy" the mobile app and using it on my actual browser is fine but the desktop app has issues launching often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes work much more efficient and easier to get in touch with people.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great app for internal communications. Really helps streamline things.

Conversaciones claras en un ambiente amigable y libre

  • June 05, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
En mi trabajo somos casi 30 personas y el nivel de dinamismo y acciones son muchas, por lo que necesitábamos una herramienta de chat interno que nos organice y sea sencilla. RicketChat lo hace!
What do you dislike about the product?
Aún nos quedan pequeños servicios que mejorarían aún más la experiencia como ser que las notificaciones te alerten con un sinido y una marca en el icomo antes de ingresar al chat
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
El trabajo por áreas en proyectos que atraviesa muchas opiniones y circuitos de acciones requiere de una dinámica especial... y RC hasta ahora resuelve bien

Lightweight app for your business

  • June 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Markdown, cross-platform, less bugs, file sharing. Groups - is the best stuff we’ve got from rocket. We have used it a lot on the daily basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
iOS devices don’t show pictures in app, so no idea what your folks send you. can’t use it as a main communication tool for external communications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, wouldn’t say a problem, but some daily challenges - yes. especially, when you not in the office but need to sort daily stuff, it useful to open the chat and send a message into the group chat, instead of call to everyone directly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use, has some small issues with iOS, not easy to have redundancy if you use in house architecture

Comprehensive Collaboration Tool

  • June 04, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Rocket provides a complete set of collaboration functions - not just the obvious 'chat' function. With their open platform they encourage thousands of developers to push the limits, increase the integrations and provide new capabilities all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real issues with the functionality - would like to see several features but have found all the features they provide work, and work well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Members can have real time communications, searchable chats, and dynamic rooms that allow groups to form around specific topic.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
really like the open architecture and the potential for integrations
