What do you like best about the product?
Complete policies and procedures for easy customization and adoption, knowledgable dedicated people assigned to our account, well-formed platform and good integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Staff availability was sometimes a velocity hurdle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifying SOC compliance, providing expertise, policies, procedures and a consolidated platform to measure success.

What do you like best about the product?
We started working with Laik on SOC2 review right after mid 2021. I would like to share why I have enjoyed working with them.

The team members we worked with were highly professional. Over the process, our team grew from "knowing little" to being "very confident" because of their professions. They answered all questions we had.

They are good at effective communication and are also patient. When we need more time for a meeting, they normally can extend for our needs. When we finish the goals of a meeting, we end early. I quite enjoy working with them.

They provide a lot of help because we were almost new to this. I deeply appreciate all their efforts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much. The Laika app sometimes is not stable or is slow. I am not complaining, but It could improve productivity and make customers who are doing hands-on work happy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Laika was helping review our company/product system for SOC2 report. The helps us to earn more trust from our existing/potential customers. The generated report was convincing.

Great Support Navigating SOC2

What do you like best about the product?
The team at Laika was great at answering our questions and helping provide a structure for us to get our SOC 2 report.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their online platform can be a bit confusing and needs some upgrades, but those were happening as we went through the project. W expect to see more improvements over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We absolutely needed guidance from experts to complete our SOC 2 and Laika was excellent at that. They also helped us to find a good vendor for our pen test and the audit.

What do you like best about the product?
The online interactive "playbooks" made it easy to punch items off the list as you confirmed controls were in place.
What do you dislike about the product?
They are a growing company so it occasionally showed in not having a massive swath of resources, but at the same time, the tools made it easy to keep moving forward even when you were waiting on a reply on another topic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Laika is great to help your company achieve and maintain compliance certifications like ISO and SOC. If you don't have a dedicated compliance team, they make it easy (in relative terms) to accomplish this while still wearing all the other hats you may wear in a company.

Keeps getting better - best path to your SOC 2 type 1 and 2

What do you like best about the product?
Platform playbooks guide you through the process efficiently and provide lots of guidance. Templates for policies cover all the required bases and can be customized as needed. But the real wins are with the team you get supporting your work - my success manager and compliance architect provided amazing support, input, project management, and guidance throughout the process. Add in the bundling of the review/report fees bundled into your costs, and it gave us a fast, efficient path to completing our SOC 2 type 1 and type 2.
June 2024 Update - completing our second SOC 2 type 2 observation period - the platform has continued to evolve and now integrates the audit, pen-test, risk register, vendor management, and other features together with automatic evidence gathering, along with fantastic integration with the tools we use like github, aws, slack, etc. As usual, the team involved has provided conceierge like service and support, super responsive and knowledgeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most recent (2024) updates to the platform have ironed out integration and interface concerns from the earliest days. No real complaints!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We starting our SOC 2 with Thoropass almost 3 years ago now, first with our type 1 and then type 2. Managing our compliance evidence gathering, policy setup and review, pen-tests, vendor risk management, and security audit requests.

What do you like best about the product?
We used Laika for our SOCII type I and SOCII type II certification and we couldn’t be happier with our experience! Their service was impeccable. They were extremely responsive to any of our questions or needs and had a real personal touch. Their work was instrumental in enabling us to get our certification and saved us countless hours of time and effort. They were fast and effective. Additionally, we utilize their policy management system as the source of truth for all of our company’s policies. The system is easy to use and great for collaboration. We highly recommend their services and their products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind. We were very happy with our overall experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Laika simplifies SOC certification using their knowledgeable staff and intuitive software solution.

What do you like best about the product?
Laika's customer success team was a pleasure to work with. We had a regular cadence of meetings that pushed the ball forward each time, and they were very responsive to other questions along the way. The platform kept things organized and had integrations to monitor some electronic controls of our infrastructure along the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were occasional glitches and typos - but fixed pretty quickly with updates. Nothing major.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We got our SOC 2 in an expedient, inexpensive way. This gives our customers a higher level of confidence in our security policies, procedures, and controls.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They won out in our interviews with about seven similar solutions. We're happy.

What do you like best about the product?
It's a one-stop shop for all things compliance.

The playbooks, integrations, and overall visibility of where you are in the process are crucial.

Add the white-glove service you get from the Laika team and you are good to go.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like anything, the platform had some minor bugs but these were overshadowed by the team's support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This solves the common inefficiencies with audits and helps you organize your data to get and stay compliant.

What do you like best about the product?
The compliance playbooks and detailed resources that were provided along with them. The team is great as well. We maintained a weekly standing meeting to update our progress and give me an opportunity to ask any questions as we designed and implemented our SOC controls. I am a former bank examiner and risk manager for a community bank so I read through numerous SOC reports throughout the years but never had to actually prepare and implement the controls. Plus, information security was not my expertise in my prior life and that is a big chunk of our risk/compliance posture given our business model. What seemed like a daunting task was made much easier thanks to Laika's detailed implementation playbooks and our customer success rep and compliance architect. We started from just about nothing as a brand new 4-person start-up and just got our SOC 2 Type 1 certification in a matter of months. The Laika team is already prepping us for the Type 2 audit, just days after we received our Type 1 report.

The audit process itself was very smooth and I like the way all the evidence uploaded as part of the playbooks is organized and used for the audit piece.
What do you dislike about the product?
Looking back, I got hung up a lot on some of the more technical aspects and while Laika had a lot of resources, I do see a need to provide some more "in the weeds", technically-focused resources. I am mainly thinking about compliance / knowledge base resources for the major cloud computing providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure for example. I think this is critically important for startups like us that don't have a lot of in-house technical expertise (developers, engineers, etc.). I know this is an area they are working on as I've seen the enhancements made to their application and the resources, and just from talking to the team I know they are adding in some more training to keep their staff knowledgeable and up to date. That said, the responsibility to educate ourselves on these aspects obviously falls to us first and foremost, but I just think investing in providing some more technically-focused aspects would improve and differentiate the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initial planning and implementation of SOC controls and planning for ongoing compliance. Laika was great to have as an initial plan on how to implement controls across the company to achieve SOC 2 compliance. The platform takes the certification requirements and maps them out to different required controls in your playbooks and that makes wrapping your head around the work much easier. I love the fact that my Laika team immediately transitioned from getting our Type 1 issued to talking about what it takes to prep for and achieve the Type 2 certification. That is the next problem on my list to tackle and its great to know my Laika team will be there to help.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get a complete understanding of what the application can and cannot do - not a good or bad thing in general but I should have done a better job of understanding the activity that can be done in Laika and how that translates into being able to provide evidence at a later date.

Fully adopt the platform from the get-go - Get all your team members signed up and familiar with the platform and use it to assign and divvy up responsibilities. I took the approach that I'm the only one that needs to use the platform so I'll live there and get everyone else what they need but that's not the best way. The functionality to collaborate with your team is there so use it. Have conversations in the beginning with the decision-makers in your organization and decide what you want to use the platform for and what you don't so you can address that from the beginning.
