Helpful customer success and SOC-2 analyst, but platform is buggy and needs more integrations
What do you like best about the product?
My customer support agent and SOC-2 analyst have been very available and helpful, willing to jump on a call any time to help me through the system. I feel they often have to come up with workarounds around the system due to bugs/glitches, weird onboarding flows, or lack of integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
They recently introduced new document templates which require us (a standard, run-of-the-mill SaaS startup) to fill in tons of content ourselves, which I think defeats the point of the platform. Thankfully my customer success agent is replacing these new ones with the old ones which is going to save me tons of time.
Also, there are a bunch of bugs and glitches, and lack of integration in some areas. For example, if you use AWS Cognito, you're out of luck -- Laika will import your entire customer base as "Integration Users" which means it thinks they're your employees. GitHub MFA settings also aren't supported, which I thought would be one of the first things they would support.

Excellent platform and supporting services
What do you like best about the product?
We are now on our 4th year of using Thoropasss to support our cyber security
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing is coming to mind at this time. But, overall, I was pleased with the entire product and service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We leverage the Thoropass platform and services for our SOC2 Type 2 compliance preparation, audit and certification. Additionally we used them for our 2023 Pentest.
Good platform, advisors, and services
What do you like best about the product?
I've collaborated with the Thoropass team on our SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 audits, witnessing the platform's evolution over recent years. There have been notable positive enhancements and updates throughout its product lifecycle. They've also integrated internal services, such as penetration testing, which significantly streamlined communication between stakeholders. Consolidating everything within one platform for security compliance has greatly simplified managing and navigating SOC 2-related documents and audits. Overall, I'm pleased with my experience with Thoropass and their team. They're always responsive and available for support, readily jumping on calls when necessary. During the penetration test, one of the testers went above and beyond, providing clear steps to reproduce vulnerabilities found, facilitating the implementation of the correct fixes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the interface can still be a tad confusing, and there's still room for improvement on the audit automation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SOC 2 compliance, and potentially GDPR compliance (in the near future).
Great partners in your path to SOC 2
What do you like best about the product?
First and foremost, I have come to value Laika's counsel and partnership. They are incredibly responsive, practical, and a pleasure to work with. Their expertise helped us obtain SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 in just one year and they were effective advocates for us during the audit process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features on Laika's platform are not as user-friendly as one would want - for example, the in-app editor is somewhat clumsy. That being said, their product has evolved in a positive direction over the last year and I'm sure it will continue to do so.
(Update): great news - several new features have been added to the platform, including a more intuitive dashboard for assigning and tracking control activities.

Identifying and operationalizing best-in-class compliance processes as it relates to data management.
Comprehensive platform organizing and simplifying everything we needed to get to SOC compliance.
What do you like best about the product?
Complete policies and procedures for easy customization and adoption, knowledgable dedicated people assigned to our account, well-formed platform and good integrations.

Staff availability was sometimes a velocity hurdle.

We started working with Laik on SOC2 review right after mid 2021. I would like to share why I have enjoyed working with them.
The team members we worked with were highly professional. Over the process, our team grew from "knowing little" to being "very confident" because of their professions. They answered all questions we had.
They are good at effective communication and are also patient. When we need more time for a meeting, they normally can extend for our needs. When we finish the goals of a meeting, we end early. I quite enjoy working with them.
They provide a lot of help because we were almost new to this. I deeply appreciate all their efforts.

Nothing much. The Laika app sometimes is not stable or is slow. I am not complaining, but It could improve productivity and make customers who are doing hands-on work happy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Laika was helping review our company/product system for SOC2 report. The helps us to earn more trust from our existing/potential customers. The generated report was convincing.
Great Support Navigating SOC2
What do you like best about the product?
The team at Laika was great at answering our questions and helping provide a structure for us to get our SOC 2 report.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their online platform can be a bit confusing and needs some upgrades, but those were happening as we went through the project. W expect to see more improvements over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We absolutely needed guidance from experts to complete our SOC 2 and Laika was excellent at that. They also helped us to find a good vendor for our pen test and the audit.
Great product to guide you quickly and efficiently to SOC compliance
What do you like best about the product?
The online interactive "playbooks" made it easy to punch items off the list as you confirmed controls were in place.
What do you dislike about the product?
They are a growing company so it occasionally showed in not having a massive swath of resources, but at the same time, the tools made it easy to keep moving forward even when you were waiting on a reply on another topic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Laika is great to help your company achieve and maintain compliance certifications like ISO and SOC. If you don't have a dedicated compliance team, they make it easy (in relative terms) to accomplish this while still wearing all the other hats you may wear in a company.
Keeps getting better - best path to your SOC 2 type 1 and 2
What do you like best about the product?
Platform playbooks guide you through the process efficiently and provide lots of guidance. Templates for policies cover all the required bases and can be customized as needed. But the real wins are with the team you get supporting your work - my success manager and compliance architect provided amazing support, input, project management, and guidance throughout the process. Add in the bundling of the review/report fees bundled into your costs, and it gave us a fast, efficient path to completing our SOC 2 type 1 and type 2.

Most recent (2024) updates to the platform have ironed out integration and interface concerns from the earliest days. No real complaints!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We starting our SOC 2 with Thoropass almost 3 years ago now, first with our type 1 and then type 2. Managing our compliance evidence gathering, policy setup and review, pen-tests, vendor risk management, and security audit requests.

What do you like best about the product?
We used Laika for our SOCII type I and SOCII type II certification and we couldn’t be happier with our experience! Their service was impeccable. They were extremely responsive to any of our questions or needs and had a real personal touch. Their work was instrumental in enabling us to get our certification and saved us countless hours of time and effort. They were fast and effective. Additionally, we utilize their policy management system as the source of truth for all of our company’s policies. The system is easy to use and great for collaboration. We highly recommend their services and their products.

Nothing comes to mind. We were very happy with our overall experience.
