Solid Edge: Reliable Tool for 3D Modeling and Design
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge provides excellent tools for 3D modeling and assemblies. The synchronous technology makes editing and updating designs easy, which saves a lot of time during revisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software sometimes feels slow when handling very complex designs, and it requires a high-end system to run smoothly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge helps in designing complex 3D models and assemblies with precision, reducing manual errors. It streamlines the entire product development process, from concept to manufacturing. For me, it saves time, improves accuracy, and ensures better collaboration within the team, making it easier to meet project deadlines.

What do you like best about the product?
Cost effective & User friendly solutions for design. With siemens as service provider wide customer support is available. Design, assembly, simulation, cam can be built in solution. Easily integrated with teamcenter.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mid level design software in its catagory. advanced surfacing is not available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
for small to medium scale industry solid edge can be cost effective solution for CAD-CAM.
Story about how can be so greedy but at the same time lag behind competitors by at least 5 years

Honestly, there is no a single feature that is better than competitors

Well well well... Where to start
1.Perhaps the most disgusting thing is working with a library of standard parts. Terrible ancient and incomprehensible interface. And the main thing is the lack of a normal and understandable method for creating your own library with various materials and connections for assembly. Just look at inventor and make an easy and clear interface for adding new collections like there.
2.Family of parts. The one who worked on this feature has no idea what he was thinking about, why the hell do I need to force the generation of the “child part” , that I want to use, in a folder??? I want to have all the configurations in one file, just select the desired option from a table without creating hundreds of models in a folder. Moreover, "child parts" do not inherit the connections that I applied to the original model using "assign capture fit".
3. Section view. You think It is okay when I cut 30 components in assembly and all of them are cutted in one color??? Why in fusion 360 it is as it should be (every part will have its own surface color cut), but you can not do it?
4. Design configurator. Firstly, why on earth did you think that you could sell this module separately while competitors provide a similar function for free? Why is there a bunch of books and hundreds of videos on YouTube for ilogic from inventor, but you have absolutely nothing, well, except for a couple of useless videos on your website. Is it normal that there is no support for drawing configuration?

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to use, great integrations with other Siemens modules in the NX and Teamcenter portfolios

Connections to Standart Parts are not accurate 100% of the time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my case, Solid Edge is simplifying the 2D and 3D visualization of the assembly of parts and can be easily expanded and used on a daily basis, where other software that have the same purpose are not so simple and objective.

What do you like best about the product?
Synchronous Technology is a major key player in Solid Edge. The Design Configurator which is a configuration tool for repeatetive designs. Virtual Components is a hidden gem.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some feature is missing while comparing with other CAD Tools like Single key shortcuts and Assembly Mate suggestions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have to work with other CAD files. In this case, we need to modify some minor dimension in the model. In solid edge, we have synchronous technology to edit the model. Also, the migration tool for 3rd party CAD tools.
