Simple, Easy to Use, and Powerful Tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to begin using Tines. The story/workflow concepts are easy to grasp and allow even those with minimal programming experience to easily develop and implement complex workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't really say that I dislike anything about the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Tines at two different organizations to implement security orchestration and automation capabilities. Through automation, we have been able to reduce headcount requirements significantly. Additionally, the benefit of implementing automation is that it scales very well in today's cloud and SaaS based infrastructures.
Clever and efficient orchestration
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use makes automation simple. Technology agnostic makes integrating with a wide range of technologies once the application has an adequate connection and functionality available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organisation of stories can get a little messy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automating manual workloads by orchestrating response as appropriate, reducing workload, work effort while also reducing response time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Map out all workflows when designing your stories. Make sure at any end points, you are routing back to a human user if there's no automated action/closure to avoid missing any items.
Powerful automation and a great team!
What do you like best about the product?
We selected Tines over competing platforms because it focuses on automation and doesn't try to compete with our SIEM like some of the other platforms on the market. The platform is very flexible and does a great job of streamlining integration with our technology stack without requiring advanced scripting and API knowledge. Probably one of my favorite features is the logging and detailed event tracking. You have great visibility into what is actually happening throughout every step of your workflow, which makes testing and troubleshooting super easy. The story board interface is intuitive and there is a growing list of templates for common integrations. Above all else though, they’re a great team. From the first time we talked to them they were open and honest about their capabilities and never sales-y. They’ve be incredibly helpful throughout our journey. Too many platforms over-promise and under-deliver. Tines isn’t one of them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tines licenses based on agents (widgets in your workflow) so managing agent consumption is important to the bottom line. Currently, any stories that you create as an example or proof of concept count against your license even if they’re not processing any events. We’ve been told they’re already working on a fix for this though.
With any automation platform, there is going to be a learning curve. Most of our training has been through trial and error and working with their team. I think Tines would benefit from some tutorials or training videos to help with getting started.
Also, no dark theme. I mean, come on!! 😊

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our primary goal is to automate repeatable incident response activities that are largely handled by humans today. We want to maximize the time that our team is spending on incident response. Tines is helping us with triage, containment and remediation. It is also helping us streamline case management across our SIEM and ITIL platform and is helping us get started with chatops concepts, leveraging a bot in our collaboration platform to streamline common tasks.
Easy and efficient automation
What do you like best about the product?
Tines allows for simplified automation and flexibility when creating automation stories. It's a quick and easy product to learn and has a lot of integrations with various APIs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limitations for other users with stories that they don't own
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creation of various workflows that has significantly reduced the time spent carrying out these tasks manually.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tines is quick and easy to set up and administer. Workflows are quick to create and implement and the support team are always available and helpful when creating workflows or with issues that may be encountered.
Automation Simplified
What do you like best about the product?
Simplified conduit for leveraging REST API's and quick turnaround on support requests
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation is vague working with the product and trying to figure out how you can manipulate the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation is made easy with Tines and eliminates the scripting aspect which is a large overhead. When creating playbooks/stories in Tines you leverage your internal or external products more via API's to eliminate those manual processes and shift focus on more pressing issues. Tines help tie systems together and create a more fluid workflow within the environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tines is a straight forward product if you work with json on a regular. If you are looking to leverage your API's to better tie your products together then Tines would be your product. Many products require multiple steps to get off and running where Tines is almost effortless to setup. You can have a workflow up in minutes rather than hours.
