Great Compromise for AD averse large business/small enterprise

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Open source based, fairly complete solution. Adequate for passing SOX compliance audit in year one in our case.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of admin ui for log analysis, accessible by API only. Still maturing....had to write our own account unlock tool leveraging their API until they released that feature earlier this year. Missing Logging was almost a showstopper for us. REST API's are fairly robust so nothing to fear if you can write your own
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SOX Compliant policy control, SSO, RADIUS, GSuite integration and user account management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the free 10 user license and kick the tires. If you have questions about our experience contact me on linkedin and I will be happy to answer any questions from a customer perspective.

Simplistic Cloud AD

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to manage my users from any location. Ease of installation and integration. Powerful API
What do you dislike about the product?
With it being in progress of development some tools (the AD Read/Write Bridge) being unavailable made it difficult to develop some business practices
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was used to antiquated Active Directory tools, but having a cloud resource that integrates everything I could need into one tool that is accessible from any location lowers my overhead and allows me to focus on higher level projects.

JumpCloud is an awesome alternative to MS AD

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
No Infrastructure to purchase, manage, or maintain.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more features built into enabling 3rd party / SSO integration with existing services/api's, etc. SSO integration exists but often it seems like it requires a fair bit of work to enable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enables us to securely authenticate and manage users and end user devices.

AD as a Service done easy

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud enables managing Windows, Mac OS and Linux on our domain easily and with a single agent install
What do you dislike about the product?
there are still some things that are not intuitive, and some bugs that need to be worked out (a known issue with chromium driver for example) but whenever I've contacted Jumpcloud support they are working on fixing them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
biggest issue is a multi device/environment domain controlled in one place, just amazing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
just do it, it will make your life easier for day to day running

Easy to deployment of Windows, Mac machines

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to set up Windows and Mac machines with local accounts; configuring software, file shares, and printers; and then overlaying Jumpcloud at the conclusion of setup, using a matching user alias. This allows the user to log on with his/her machine with a secure/private password. I then transmit the user's account to other devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
The SSO catalog is still limited. However we plan to request additional applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to easily manage access to file servers on 3 continents.

Organize the Chaos

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We don't want to run AD or other on premise directory services, JumpCloud easily allows us to manage users, groups, policies, etc all with ease. JumpCloud allows us to govern our users with polices that are needed to ensure our staff meet our security policies and procedures.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Windows client leaves much to be desired. It's hard to get folks to understand the method to change passwords via the windows client alone. Mac's client is much better in this area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On-boarding and off-boarding. Compliance. Governance. Audit and access control. Policy management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give the tool a quick demo, it's quickly becomes evident that JumpCloud has the features you need.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike about the product besides some pricing complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplified user management.

Custom LDAP attributes are fantastic.

New JumpCloud School District

What do you like best about the product?
We appreciate the cloud-based management of our environment and the responsiveness of the interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have yet to find anything in particular we "don't like". With that said, we do hope for future enhancements that will allow us to apply a more controllable, responsive experience in lab environments, along with the ability to map cloud drives such as Google Drive and OneDrive or Dropbox.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our goal was to move away from Active Directly (locally) and push that platform to the cloud. We believe this will allow us to be more efficient and provides a more dependable solution for our technology environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We recommend identifying your core needs as it relates to the cloud, conveying your lab/community needs to JumpCloud Support, and starting with your employee workstations. We also recommend manually installing the JumpCloud agent so you can properly confirm installation success and edit the devices as they enroll.

Great service that fills a clear gap in the macOS IT ecosystem

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Provides many of the services of AD while combining SSO. It's perfect for a mac-only environment where you may have a few Windows machines and Linux servers. Love that you get DaaS while still getting SSO features for one cost. RADIUS and Policies are great bonuses.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jumpcloud has 90% of the features of MDM without being a true MDM. If they can become and Apple-blessed MDM, my review would be updated to 10/10.

Over the last few years working with them, service and uptime were both stellar.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lack of AD for mac-only environment. Local account logins were main priority, syncing them with G Suite and other SSO services solved a ton of problems and smoothed out day-to-day experiences for our users.

Ditching AD

  • August 14, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JC gives me the basic features I've been using all along with AD - but without AD. I manage users, credentials, systems, policies, and even custom commands - all from JumpCloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
I want to use the SSO feature of JumpCloud - but I'm currently using Okta. Okta is a bit more intuitive to me and my users. I have not made the change over to it yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
#1 - I'm getting off of Windows AD. User management in the cloud is very easy. It makes my job more doable when I'm away from the office
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan your migration from the beginning - so that you can get your mind wrapped around all of the nuances of making the change from Windows to JumpCloud
