Cost Reports & Recommendations are well-defined, promotes potential savings while using AWS platform
What do you like best about the product?
Vantage handles our billing ingestions automatically and provides various cost metric summaries for our AWS account. It differentiates between our on-demand spending, which is based on our Ad-hoc request from our clients, and committed spending, which sums up our monthly cloud expenditures in its console. It offers multiple widgets, which effectively breaks down granular-level accrued costs for individual members of the team as well as overall project spendings every month.
What do you dislike about the product?
Vantage gives us clear visibility on how much our organization is paying to leverage the various Amazon cloud platform services & other recommendations such as saving plans, reserved instances suggestions, and long-term enterprise discount offers. It also automatically creates our CloudWatch metrics for each AWS resource as soon as we integrate our account to the Vantage platform. There is noting to dislike on Vantage features as it provides extensive resource discovery upon adding new resources as well as monitoring them periodically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost forecasting is done well in Vantage by selecting upper-expected-band & lower-expected-band then taking a median forecast value between these two thresholds. Since this forecast is updated on a daily basis, whenever there is a new cost inclusion, we can view it in its console at ease. Cost reports give a brief insight about the cost of utilizing the resource, its increment or decrement percentage when compared with previous records, and the redirect link to view its cost report dashboard. Its recommendations are helpful in analyzing our resource expenditure and how we can optimize cost by following reasonable best practices for our AWS resources from its description panel.

Saved my @$$
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is the automated monitoring and notification of spending and comparison with past trends. This functionality caught a serious misconfiguration by our team and helped us avoid paying a boatload of money.
What do you dislike about the product?
Vantage does not yet support all AWS resource types. However, they're continually improving, so I expect the amount of money we see in EC2-Other to drop over time and become more and more valuable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Vantage to keep an eye on our AWS spending. They have more advanced features for customers with more spending than us, but as a basic user, the main benefit is the confidence that we're not overspending through configuration errors.
Vantage works for me. They saved us 20% in a month or so.
What do you like best about the product?
Much better analysis/breakdowns by cost area of Ec2-servers, RDS, Cloudfront than can be gotten from AWS Billing dashboard. Better actionable info.
What do you dislike about the product?
They are still working on getting costs associated with reserved instances.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My Problem solved was our AWS bill. Vantage helped reduce it by a few thousand (out of $12k/monthly) in just a few weeks. Our AWS bill was reduced more than 20%.
Great pricing tool
What do you like best about the product?
A missing from the Amazon pricing API. Now it's here :)
What do you dislike about the product?
They are growing and improving, so I haven't found drawbacks I can highlight
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can calculate costs using API and there is no need to buy expensive tools
A true cost explorer
What do you like best about the product?
Vantage helps me out a lot with exploring AWS costs. Using the AWS console to figure out why my costs were higher than expected was always an annoyance personally, quite unclear and hard to figure out. Looking at the Vantage dashboard makes me not only know directly what my costs are, for which service and there is a short explanation for some of the cost groups that might be unclear (they still have the AWS names, so require an explanation sometimes).
Setup is really easy as well. One simple cloudformation script. They have a blog as well, with how that all works. I haven't yet had time to read it yet, but there is a lot of info there.
Main benefit is the free tier for up to $2500 a month. So for side projects this is super useful as well.

What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints. If I want to share vantage with other teams, it would be nice to have a link showing that they're AWS trusted partners.

- Much easier to see costs and which resources cause these costs
- Find hidden costs
- Find out f.e. the cost of my load balancer and what part of that is the default cost and which part is the added cost for high traffic
- I also started to like AWS much more thanks to Vantage by solving mythe biggest pain point in AWS (pricing)
