Cloudtrail anomaly detection plus some other stuff...

  • May 18, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The cloudtrail anomaly detection was our initial need. We had an expansive AWS footprint, and needed something to get our hands around who was doing what, and if those patterns were changing. Setting up the centralize cloudtrail access was simple, the Lacework tech did a lot of the work for us. The compliance reporting is much cleaner than the native AWS interface, which makes things more actionable. Also the container scanning "just works", which checks another box.
What do you dislike about the product?
They have a whole other part of their product that uses agents. And their sales team loves to talk about it. As we move more and more of our footprint to serverless we won't need agents, and hearing the pitch about them is a bit tiresome. Outside of the agent story, some more knobs on what generates alerts for anomaly detection would be interesting to play with, but honestly, I don't need MORE alerts in my life. It's not that Lacework is chatty, it's very manageable, but the anomaly detection is really just "set it and forget it" and I'd like to see more options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning about what users are doing in the cloud. Better actionability from reporting (more consumable by a less technical resource). For the most part, the ops folks can let the security folks drive the tool and generate tickets. Before this was a paired-up exercise and not always enjoyed by either side.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Like any other security tooling, make sure you understand what you want out of the tools before you talk to them. There's a dizzying array of information that Lacework can make visible, and it is easy to be overexcited about the capabilities.

Lacework Review

  • May 17, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is very clean and straight to the point. The GUI is easy to navigate through. There are different privileges for users. I also like how we can link to alerts and create reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tickets have to be filed through support. Documentation for policies and standards is not 100% complete. Creating custom alerts is not very straightforward and cannot be done through the GUI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems that I am solving through Lacework include security monitoring of multiple hosts, compliance alerts, and obtaining details for multiple systems on one platform. The benefits include a central service for security information for the company and details on compliance standards and policies.

Jira integration requires some love

  • May 17, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
GCP integration works rather well, but there's a bit of work to be done regarding autopilot Kubernetes and infrastructure as code provisions (we're using pulumi).
What do you dislike about the product?
As my description points out, we had trouble synchronizing solved issues in our Jira boards, because Lacework does not ensure a two-way integration. This implies that we have to manually close tickets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework is helping us discover cloud vulnerabilities as we build our tech stack, which is great. However, some the issues raised, do not necessarily represent a security problem.

    Entertainment

Lacework has intuitive UX design and its polygraph can display enterprise cloud instances...

  • May 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Lacework can scale more than ThreatStack's IDS because it can retain more than 3 days of logs. And Lacework can allow for webhook integration with Ops Genie
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the Lacework hourly ML process can be faster. I wish cloud account alerts like the publicly open security group rule can be real-time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am trying to solve real anomaly detection with zero-day vulnerabilities. Lacework can monitor network flow that looks suspicious
