My go-to NoSQL database

  • July 28, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I used to use Postgres as my go-to database. When I started using Scylla, its SQL-like syntax made it super easy for me to get used to it. Not only is it easier to get used to, but it's also lightning fast. Plus, Cassandra compatibility! I don't think I can ever go back to using Postgres again after experiencing this (unless it's part of the project requirement). Now, Scylla is my go-to database.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd be nitpicking here, but there are times when I just want to fetch something without using all partition keys or to update a field that happens to be a clustering key. Not as part of my project or test (that would be silly), but just for some random reason. Of course, that doesn't work the way it does with SQL. That's something I miss. But I really can't blame Scylla for this, I could have used any NoSQL database and the same would have been true.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its lightning-fast speed has significantly reduced response time. As the biggest (or narrowest, if you will) bottleneck used to be database latency before, with Scylla that's not an issue anymore, as it responds within nanoseconds.

What do you like best about the product?
Performance improvement over Cassandra, in general, was good but the additional monitoring and management tools built and provided by Scylla are fantastic. Saved us so much time in the deployment and maintenance of our data pipeline.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've not run into many issues but It seems we might have to buy an enterprise subscription would help get quick help
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast and performant database with an existing toolkit for management, which helps reduce downtimes and Operations costs.

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is a wonderful replacement for Cassandra, everything is blazing smooth, with great support, great community, and awesome learning resources. Always amazed by the monstrous feature and performance Scylla provided out of the box. Scylla made my job easier by hundredfolds. At this point, I can trust the life of our application Scylla with ease :D
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the material for introduction to a wide-column database like Scylla vs normal RDBMS would be nice if provided more comprehensively to help engineers from traditional applications understand what Scylla is all about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scylla scales easily and performs amazingly. We only need to do some minor tuning (rarely) to ScyllaDB to fulfill our needs. DevOps with other db might take a lot of work to do

Suitable product for high speed read-write performance systems with very less efforts in maintenance

  • May 06, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Scylla manager tool for maintenance tasks such as backups, repairs, etc. Automatic repair with flexible intensity level provided
2. ScyllaDB database has the capability to tune the hardware like CPU, memory, and IO which is not present in many databases.
3. ScyllaDB provides high throughput with very less latencies in comparison to Cassandra.
4. Recent benchmark shows that ScyllaDB is more cost-effective than DynamoDB. Ref: https://www.scylladb.com/product/benchmarks/dynamodb-benchmark/
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a need to perform external repairs within several nodes across the cluster if there will be a network disconnect between nodes because of any reasons such as a network glitch. Looking for the next feature enhancement to automatically remediate the data reflection according to the consistency level across all the nodes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business Problem:- To track the tobacco products across the Supply Chain.
Benefits:- Less intervention of Subject matter experts, cost-effective as per its flexibility to increase storage over the years based on the data growth, and less maintenance is required.

Best-in class software with open source

  • March 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I believe the open-source software's are one of the best in class for the persons who would initially start their career in the field of IT. ScyllaDB is no different than anyone who is contributing to the open-source platform. ScyllaDB as a whole is an essential DB for the companies who are looking to scale their databases with less amount spend. The way ScyllaDB handles data is at its best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The more robustness in the implementation and automation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major problem is with proproratory databases are scale and cost, ScyllaDB is doing this.

Awesome NoSQL DB

  • March 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The architecture and the way data is replicated so that we have no downtime
What do you dislike about the product?
The time taken when we do the backup, as the data backup is done on all the cluster nodes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost is reduced as it is very light weight compared to cassandra
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really super nosql db product, can be used easily in place of cassandra as it will reduce the hosts/nodes needed and thereby that will reduce the cost.
