Best-in class software with open source

  • March 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I believe the open-source software's are one of the best in class for the persons who would initially start their career in the field of IT. ScyllaDB is no different than anyone who is contributing to the open-source platform. ScyllaDB as a whole is an essential DB for the companies who are looking to scale their databases with less amount spend. The way ScyllaDB handles data is at its best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The more robustness in the implementation and automation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major problem is with proproratory databases are scale and cost, ScyllaDB is doing this.

Awesome NoSQL DB

  • March 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The architecture and the way data is replicated so that we have no downtime
What do you dislike about the product?
The time taken when we do the backup, as the data backup is done on all the cluster nodes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost is reduced as it is very light weight compared to cassandra
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really super nosql db product, can be used easily in place of cassandra as it will reduce the hosts/nodes needed and thereby that will reduce the cost.

ScyllaDB is a game-changer when it comes to digitally transform businesses, with migration to cloud projects for instance

Fast, Scalable NoSQL Database

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and highly scalable. Documentation is great and community events are frequent, such as free trainings and webinars with the actual developers of the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't encountered anything yet that I do not like, and so far, I've been quite pleased with the support of the community for how to get this working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are testing this out for a highly available, scalable, Key Value data store that will be used as an alternative to the AWS proprietary DBs in this space.

Scalable and Flexible

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When it works, it works very well. It's relatively easy to use once it's stood up in your chosen environment(s). Open source is a plus for sure, wish more companies would follow this approach (supposed to be easily scalable too, but we didn't get that far)
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing, the pricing, the pricing! Open is missing too many features for us to make it viable, the paid tier is just too much cost to justify. Used at my previous company, my current won't consider because of this. Lower requirements than some others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wanted relatively high throughput for an orders system that we were implementing. Worked very well for our scenario and the hardware we had available. Would have been a long term solution

Great solution

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The solution offers all the benefits of a database, architecture and easy implementation in development. And above all, it has a very active and collaborative community.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far I haven't found anything that doesn't meet my need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on projects to separate functions of a cloud ERP application that demand quick query and response. As a DBA I am evaluating the existing solutions on the market and ScyllaDB has been meeting the needs.

Sharding, and open source!?

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've taken several of their training courses, I believe all of them were free. My company looked to this to replace Mongo which also gave us a significant performance boost.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had some trouble with our first configuration that I'd blame on the documentation at this point. It's a little "green" for how pricey it can get, though the performance offset makes it worthwhile.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heavy throughput on a 24/7 ecommerce application and ability to be a replacement for current in-production Mongo. Reliability has been phenomenal as well, but is comparable on both.

Scylla >> Cassandra

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We transitioned from Cassandra to Scylla, and the results have been amazing thus far. Reduced latencies, less management effort, and lowered managing costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Have not experienced any issues thus far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running a low latency, high frequency application using an extremely large data set.

What do you dislike about the product?
The document can be better to support such a good product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalability and the stop the world garbage collection with Cassandra DB

A Breeze to Get Started

  • March 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was super easy to download the product and configure the variables and CQL driver to get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am new to Cassandra Query Language and found it a bit challenging. Wish I could use more common query language that I am familiar with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the biggest issues our departments face is compatibility. ScyllaDB seems to be able to solve that by allowing us to integrate via the CQL driver, such as integrating with Kubernetes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the tutorials that are on the documentation site before trying to start the integration process
