Overview

As cyber threats became faster, more sophisticated, and higher in volume, Beyon Cyber’s Security Operations Center (SOC) came under increasing pressure to investigate and respond to threats at greater speed and scale. To address these challenges, Beyon Cyber developed Orryx AI, shifting security operations from a manual, analyst-intensive model toward AI-assisted investigation, with specialized agents handling repetitive work. Running on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Orryx AI gives Beyon Cyber the compute, data capabilities, resilience, and operational support needed to process security events at enterprise scale while helping analysts focus on complex decisions.

About Beyon Cyber

With a presence across eight countries in the GCC and Levant, Beyon Cyber delivers managed security, advanced cyber services, and AI-powered products. Deloitte named it the fastest-growing cyber company in the region for 4 years running.

Opportunity | Using AWS for AI-driven SOC operations for Beyon Cyber

Beyon Cyber is a managed security services provider headquartered in Bahrain that helps protect digital environments across the Gulf region. As the company’s SOC grew, the volume and complexity of security data increased faster than analysts could process it. Teams spent significant time triaging alerts, correlating information across tools, and performing repetitive investigations. Beyon Cyber wanted to turn this data into timely action, but adding more people or tools would not solve the underlying problem. “We needed to change the operating model, using AI to reduce noise, connect the dots across security data, and give analysts the context they need to make faster decisions,” says Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa, CEO at Beyon Cyber.

To support that model at production scale, Beyon Cyber needed infrastructure that could handle unpredictable alert volumes, process data across parallel workflows, preserve original evidence, and maintain resilient operations as it expanded. Beyon Cyber chose AWS for elastic compute, scalable data storage, resilience, and operational support, providing the foundation for AI-driven security operations at scale.

Solution | Building scalable AI-driven security operations with AWS

Beyon Cyber built Orryx AI as a tiered investigation workflow combining deterministic processing, specialized AI agents, and human judgment. High-confidence alerts move through first-level workflows, while complex cases are routed to specialized agents for enrichment, threat hunting, and response. For Beyon Cyber, the key challenge was making this approach reliable enough for production security operations across fragmented security data. “The real technical challenge was building a system that we could trust to investigate real security incidents accurately, at machine speed, and at enterprise scale,” says Abubakar Mohd, chief technology officer at Beyon Cyber.

Orryx AI uses Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), a fully managed container orchestration service, for its containerized investigation workloads, while Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) provides resizable, secure compute capacity. Amazon Data Firehose helps Beyon Cyber load near real-time streams into data lakes, warehouses, and analytics services. Together, these services support dynamic scaling as alert volumes change and help Beyon Cyber run threat intelligence and investigation workflows in parallel.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), an object storage service built to retrieve any amount of data from anywhere, stores telemetry and processed information while preserving evidence for forensic investigations and auditability. AWS Backup, which centralizes and automates data protection, supports recovery alongside a resilient architecture spanning multiple Availability Zones and Regions, helping reduce restoration times.

AWS Enterprise Support, which helps organizations strengthen security with insights and AWS experts, provides always-on technical support and access to a technical account manager for architectural and operational guidance. Through it, Beyon Cyber uses offerings such as operations reviews and AWS Trusted Advisor to identify opportunities to improve performance, address security gaps, and optimize costs and resilience. It also bolsters Beyon Cyber’s security posture with access to services like the AWS Security Improvement Program (AWS SIP)—a proactive engagement built to help customers measure and improve their AWS security posture—and AWS Security Incident Response (AWS SIR), which helps companies prepare for, respond to, and recover from security events faster. Together, these resources help Beyon Cyber continuously optimize its environment while supporting the security and resilience required to operate at machine speed.

Outcome | Scaling security operations with better speed and resilience

Orryx AI now triages nearly 500,000 alerts per month and handles bursts of up to 300 alerts per second through parallelized workflows. Analysts spend less time gathering context and enriching alerts, and more time making decisions and responding to complex threats. “We built Orryx AI to give security analysts back their most valuable resource—time—so they can focus their expertise where it has the greatest impact,” says Mohd.

Infrastructure optimization improved cost efficiency by approximately 30 percent, while recovery times fell from 4–5 hours to under 10 minutes. These improvements support a more scalable and resilient SOC while preserving original security evidence.

Looking ahead, Beyon Cyber plans to expand Orryx AI toward increasingly autonomous cyber defense, with specialized agents supporting triage, intelligence, hunting, and response while keeping human oversight where judgment matters most. “Working alongside AWS, we can focus on innovation in security operations with confidence that the underlying infrastructure can support growth, performance, and reliability requirements at scale,” says Mohd.
