Citrix announces general availability of Citrix DaaS on Amazon WorkSpaces Core

Introduction

With Citrix DaaS on Amazon WorkSpaces Core moving from public tech preview to general availability (GA), you can extend your on-premises Citrix virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to the highly scalable AWS Cloud—helping reduce costs, improve security, and optimize user productivity.

Citrix DaaS on WorkSpaces Core provides the flexibility to integrate with AWS infrastructure by simplifying connectivity with an API. The Amazon WorkSpaces Core API connects directly with Citrix DaaS, allowing you to scale out your Citrix environment with AWS directly from the Citrix Cloud administrative console. With this announcement, you can optimize delivery of Citrix DaaS for production workloads while taking advantage of new Citrix features available at GA.

New Citrix features

Volume encryption to secure data at rest

Encryption at rest is a security best practice across AWS. While creating your deployment, you can enable volume encryption to secure data at rest through an AWS-managed KMS key or a customer-managed key through a toggle.

Update imported images in the console

Centralizing administrative functions in the Citrix Cloud administrative console simplifies ongoing administration tasks, such as image management. Update your deployment to the newly created image directly from the Citrix Cloud administrative console using the ‘Update Image’ button in the Deployment section.

Citrix DaaS on Amazon WorkSpaces Core allows you to extend on-premises VDI to the AWS Cloud, while managing the solution with your familiar Citrix VDI software. Flexible billing options and pay-as-you-go pricing allow you to scale with changing business requirements, quickly adding users without the lead times and capital expense associated with procuring and deploying on-premises infrastructure. By leveraging highly secure, fully managed AWS Cloud infrastructure, you can maintain a strong security posture while freeing internal resources to work on higher ROI initiatives.
