Tutorial: Creating CMAF outputs with AWS Elemental MediaConvert
The Common Media Application Format (CMAF) standard has quickly gained adoption across the ecosystem of media technologies and playback devices. By enabling a single file format to store, process, and deliver video streams to both HLS and DASH clients using fMP4 segments, CMAF can increase efficiency and reduce complexity and cost for live and on-demand video workflows.
If you are considering CMAF for your workflows, Jan Ozer of Streaming Media has put together an in-depth tutorial using AWS Elemental MediaConvert to generate CMAF output for testing across a range of players. You can read Ozer’s how-to guide here, which includes instructions for creating your own custom CMAF job templates. You can also check out an accompanying video that demonstrates how a single CMAF output performs through playback on HLS and DASH clients.
