AWS joins the White House, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Education, and other leaders in government, industry, and the education community to improve the cybersecurity resilience of K12 education communities. As part of our support, AWS is bolstering our longstanding collaboration with K12 education communities, state departments of education, teaching and learning companies, and EdTechs through key commitments, including $20 million for a K12 Cyber Grant Program available to all K12 school districts and state departments of education.

To celebrate the leaders and organizations that are propelling the academic landscape forward, AWS announced the 2023 cohort of Education Champions at IMAGINE: Education, State and Local Leaders 2023 Conference. The 2023 AWS Education Champions are pioneers that demonstrate meaningful digital transformation at their education institution to improve student outcomes, build institutional resiliency, accelerate research that can lead to life-changing discoveries, and more – all using the AWS Cloud.

Deloitte’s Smart Factory Believers program was established as The Smart Factory @ Wichita’s purpose mission and is a collaborative initiative that brings together world-leading organizations, including AWS, Elenco Electronics, the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), and others, to help foster new learning opportunities for middle school-aged children in underserved communities. Today, Deloitte and AWS announced an expansion of the program to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). Within the next three years, Smart Factory Believers aims to impact more than 1,600 students in the DC metro area.

Waterford.org is an early education nonprofit committed to advancing equity and excellence for young learners. Waterford.org provides personalized programs for learners from pre-kindergarten to second grade, and support services for families and educators so the adults in a child’s life can help them reach their full potential. To deliver these educational resources to families and children, Waterford.org uses AWS.

How can schools make sure students have more equitable access to the real-world technology they need to grow skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)? The answer is Amazon AppStream 2.0, an application streaming service from AWS that lets users run any desktop application, on any computer, with the cloud. With access to high-powered programs and applications on any device connected to the internet, educators can provide career technical education (CTE) and STEM curricula to students anywhere, anytime. Students also need help available to them when they need it, and that may not fall within the hours of the school day. AWS Partner, Gaggle, is an education technology (EdTech) company that delivers solutions that focus on helping to keep students safe. Gaggle developed ReachOut, a mental health hotline built on AWS that connects K12 students to trained Gaggle support counselors, anywhere, anytime.

McGraw Hill, an AWS Partner, is an education technology (EdTech) and publishing company that provides educational content, software, and services for pre-K through postgraduate education. To meet evolving learner needs, McGraw Hill recently launched the SHARPEN app—a mobile study app that mimics the types of social media content feeds familiar to young learners to foster educational success. Developed in collaboration with the AWS Growth Advisory Team, this dynamic learning experience uses AWS.

Texas Region 4 ESC (TX-Region 4) is a regional education service center that offers a range of services that help K12 education organizations improve student performance, enable faculty success, and implement state initiatives. When TX-Region 4 wanted to migrate its business intelligence (BI) solution to the cloud, they turned to AWS and Amazon QuickSight to save time and produce more insights to better their educational offerings.
