1. Announcing the Winners of AWS Educate’s Alexa Skills Challenge

From January 24, 2019 – April 22, 2019, AWS Educate hosted the Alexa Skills Challenge for student members in the United States. Students built solutions to address challenges in the academic setting related to student life, learning, and the community. Participants learned and built solutions using a variety of AWS technologies such as machine learning and conversational artificial intelligence. With AWS Educate’s resources and support, participants delivered helpful Alexa Skills. A panel of judges selected a grand prize winner, the top category prize winners, and honorable mentions. And now (drumroll please), here are the winners of the AWS Educate Alexa Skills Challenge. Read more.

2. AWS Educate Announces its Inaugural Cloud Ambassador Cohort

AWS Educate is excited to announce the 2019 cohort for the AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program. The AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program provides leading educators recognition, professional development, and exclusive benefits for helping students learn about cloud computing and prepare for the modern workforce. The program consists of two tiers – the AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Council and AWS Educate Faculty Ambassadors. The select group of AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Council members were invited into the program and represent a diverse group of educators. 3. Detect vulnerabilities in the Docker images in your applications

With cyberattacks on the rise against higher education institutions, it is critical to detect vulnerabilities in the Docker images that may run your applications. 5. Teaching the Allen Brain Observatory: technical challenges, cloud solutions

The mission of the Allen Institute for Brain Science is to accelerate our understanding of how the human brain works in health and disease. As part of this mission, scientists collect massive amounts of data, which is publicly released to help accelerate research in the field of neuroscience. Massive datasets can be challenging to share, so the Allen Institute uses AWS to share them around the world. Read more.
