Spanning Time & Space with Mixed Reality Digital Twins

Link to Recorded Talk

Digital Twins connect physical systems with virtual representations and models to allow for visual representations, integration of sensor data, and predictive capabilities for how assets or processes will behave in the future. Globally, organizations are grappling with the acceleration of remote operations and an increasingly prevalent skills gap. Forward-looking companies are addressing this problem by equipping their in-person, hybrid, and off-site teams with mixed reality (MR) solutions that enhance productivity capabilities especially when integrated with Digital Twins. In this session, learn how Sphere and AWS are working together to develop a digital workspace which enables professionals to communicate across languages, distances, dimensions, and time (with predictive capabilities). By partnering on initiatives which include TwinMaker and Lookout for Vision, as well as cloud rendering powered by AWS and its partners, Sphere’s cutting-edge solution is pioneering the future of collaboration, as well as expert assistance and workflow guidance using MR.

Wednesday, May 31, at 11:30 AM – 11:55 AM PDT
AWS Speaker: Jonathan Kyle, AWS Global Business Development Leader.

Building a Spatial Lakehouse

Link to Recorded Talk

Though tech giants like Netflix, Microsoft, and Google are pressing pause on metaverse ambitions in light of economic headwinds and spiraling hype cycles, spatial data is powering virtual environments that drive real benefits and practical utility for enterprise functions and consumer applications. Yet creating an immersive, effective, and agile spatial lake—deep enough to power the metaverse—requires three key functional layers to (1) create and manage, (2) build and operate, and (3) deliver and interact at scale. In this panel, spatial computing expert David Randle (Global Head of Spatial Computing GTM at AWS) moderates a panel with meta-world-makers Josh Rush (CEO at Surreal Events), Ryan Smith (Head of Product at RapidCompact by DGG), and Dan O’Brien (GM Americas at HTC VIVE) to discuss the formula for creating a “Spatial Lakehouse” solution strong enough to make the metaverse matter to employees, clients and consumers alike.

Wednesday, May 31, at 2:10 PM – 3:05 PM PDT

AWS Spatial: Building Blocks of the Metaverse

Link to Recorded Talk

“AWS Spatial: Building Blocks of the Metaverse” is a session for developers and tech enthusiasts interested in the potential of XR to revolutionize various industries. It is focused on helping those who have moved past the pilot or prototype phase and are now looking to scale and adopt XR in a meaningful way. In this session, attendees will learn how to take disparate 3D workloads and XR proofs of concept and scale them into enterprise-level applications using the tools, building blocks, and patterns available right now. The session will cover the complete XR workload lifecycle, including supporting asset creation, ingestion, transformation, and distribution/deployment. The session will be led by three AWS Spatial Computing prototype architects, each representing different emerging technology teams within AWS. They will demonstrate how to leverage CAD engineering models, photogrammetry, and AI/ML in 3D asset pipelines to create high-quality XR experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to get started with the tools, building blocks, and patterns available right now, and learn how to use AWS Spatial to build XR workloads that are scalable, secure, and reliable.

Thursday, June 1, at 2:00 PM – 2:25 PM PDT
AWS Speakers: Lauren Marble, Josh Burns, & Kellan Cartledge, AWS Spatial Computing Solutions Architects.

In Action: GenAI in XR

Link to Recorded Talk

As AI continues to permeate every aspect of our digital lives, this event aims to explore the practical applications of GenAI in XR. Attendees can expect discussions on the efficacy of GenAI in XR, and the emerging industry opportunities and trends in the short, mid, and long term. From automating content generation and retrieval in immersive environments to the use of Avatar AI assistants and support, productivity, and creation in gaming, education, and enterprise settings, the possibilities of leveraging AI in XR are limitless. The unique nature of XR platforms, with their reliance on audio-visual interactions, presents new considerations for AI integrations. We’ll delve into challenges such as uncanniness while bridging limitations of current assistant technology like Siri. We’ll explore the potential impact of GenAI interaction speed and value creation in immersive worlds where time and practicality are on a different scale, as well as the formats that users embrace. Attendees will examine how AI can deliver lasting value and an increase in user satisfaction.
