Announcing the AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance Initiative for Public Sector Partners
Education, government, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations seek to deliver quality services to support their missions in increasingly dynamic and complex environments, all while facing common challenges, such as shortage of systems to collect and analyze data in real-time.
MarketsandMarkets™ forecasts the global Internet of Things (IoT) market size to reach $561 USD billion by 2022, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 26.9%. To support public sector organizations on their missions and with the growth of IoT, Amazon Web Service (AWS) is launching the AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance Initiative for AWS Partners.
The AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance Initiative is designed to help members of the AWS Public Sector Partner (PSP) Program who provide IoT-based solutions to the public sector. AWS IoT subject matter experts will help partners create proven solutions to the most challenging IoT problems. This includes assisting technology partners with building their platform as a service (PaaS) offerings and consulting partners with rolling out IoT-based solutions on behalf of public sector organizations.
“We’ve seen first-hand how IoT can address time-consuming, complex business problems and drive scale for governments and organizations around the world,” said Sandy Carter, vice president of public sector partners and programs at AWS. “Now, we are excited to support our partners with a comprehensive IoT-based solutions support ecosystem to help them innovate on behalf of customers and quickly move ideas from a concept to reality.”
Turning data into insights with IoT
Public sector customers and partners have the opportunity to modernize public services using AWS IoT to provide situation-specific, real-time data, which can increase operational efficiency and create net-new revenue streams. With AWS IoT, customers can securely connect and manage billions of devices and gather device data and perform sophisticated analytics such as machine learning (ML) to solve their missions-critical and business problems. IoT can also help with smart solutions for different domains such as smart cities, smart industry, smart agriculture, smart factories, and smart energy. The IDC Worldwide Smart City (SC) Spending Guide indicates global spending on smart city initiatives will reach $190B USD in 2023, as city governments are under continuous pressure to leverage smart city solutions to deliver efficient and improved mandatory services to the residents.
Additionally, IoT in the defense industry, also known as the Internet of Military Things (IoMT) or Internet of Battlefield Things (IoBT), uses artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, data storage, and security services to deliver on missions. Aerospace and defense companies that manufacture satellites, aircraft, and other equipment are realizing new perspectives for driving value, produce better quality and at a faster speed. A smart factory continuously collects and shares data through connected machines, devices, sensors, and production systems and uses the data to proactively address issues, improve manufacturing processes, automate quality inspection, respond to new demands, and use the data for predictive maintenance.
How does AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance work?
The complexity of deploying IoT solutions goes beyond development. Today, organizations must navigate a vast technology landscape to arrive at complete and secure solutions that meet customer demands. IoT projects require multi-disciplined expertise to deliver a successful solution deployment. AWS Partners can help.
AWS Partners and customers have been working with AWS to deliver IoT-based solutions that use AWS IoT, AI, and ML. To help AWS Partners, and based on success with the AWS AI and ML Rapid Adoption Assistance Initiative, we are launching the Rapid Adoption Assistance for Public Sector Partners who support IoT-based solutions.
The IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance initiative provides partners with an automated mechanism for reaching out to AWS experts to build and deliver AWS solutions that are mission critical to public sector organizations. The AWS Public Sector IoT Partner team offers technical expertise and hands-on guidance to partners to help accelerate solution deployments on behalf of public sector customers.
Participating partners receive technical assistance in three phases:
- Envisioning phase: In a one day “Envisioning Session,” partners learn about AWS IoT services, and AWS learns about partners’ goals and needs and facilitates a brainstorming session to create a roadmap to competency and adoption. AWS engages with partners to recommend the right IoT and analytics services, iterates on this, and finalizes a plan including a roadmap, project goals, and timeline.
- Enablement phase: AWS continues to educate participating partners to help them implement the design proposed in the envisioning phase. Technical deep dive sessions and use case-based workshops are delivered to partners virtually or in person.
- Build phase: Partners begin to build their solution with technical support and guidance from AWS, helping them to complete a proof of concept. At this phase, qualified partners may be eligible for AWS Promotional Credit to help offset the costs of training and development.
If you have not already registered your organization with the AWS Partner Network (APN), join at no cost by creating your AWS Partner Central Account. Then follow these steps to leverage IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance initiative:
Step 1: Join the AWS Public Sector Partner (PSP) Program
Step 2: Fill out the AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance initiative interest form. Upon receiving the form, the AWS team will evaluate your specific use case. If selected, you will receive communication from AWS in three business days to advise on next steps.
Step 3: Connect with AWS subject matter experts. Upon selection, as you participate in this initiative, AWS will engage with you to conduct a series of workshops and provide guidance around AWS IoT-based solutions.
Existing AWS Public Sector Partners that need assistance with a defined IoT-based solution use case or are pursuing a qualified opportunity with an agency can immediately apply to take advantage of AWS IoT Rapid Adoption Assistance Initiative.
