The question comes up often when I meet with government leaders around the world in my role as a government transformation digital advisor at AWS. Accelerating digital transformation in Latin America’s public sector

In the past two years, many of us in Latin America have seen civil society, governments, academia, and the private sector unite to accelerate our ability to respond to the economic and human challenges of COVID-19. Bias for Agile action speeds digital transformation in the public sector

When I worked in the UK government, I led the Government Digital Transformation Service (GDS) Transformation Program, where we used an Agile approach to modernize a range of services, from social care benefits to prison visit booking. Now, I work with the AWS Institute executive education program to teach public sector leaders how to accelerate and expand their impact for citizens with digital transformation. In my time working for the UK government’s Digital Marketplace as the service manager, I saw first-hand the benefits of open source in government. Combined with transparent processes, using open source solutions helped streamline digital project execution, build trust with constituents and the global community, and save time and money. Now, as the senior manager of government services (GovServices) at AWS, and as a teacher for the AWS Institute Executive Education Program, I want to share best practices for government leaders looking to use open source solutions.

AWS signs new Cloud Framework Agreement with Malaysia to power public sector innovation

AWS signed a new Cloud Framework Agreement (CFA) with the Malaysian government, together with local IT provider and AWS Partner Radmik Solutions Sdn Bhd, to help accelerate cloud adoption in the public sector and help agencies save costs, boost digital skills, and drive innovation. AWS is the first international cloud service provider to have concluded and signed a CFA with the Malaysian government, as part of our long-term commitment to support Malaysia’s digital transformation.

AWS Startup Ramp, now available in Japan, launches first cohort for entrepreneurs driving public sector innovation in the Asia-Pacific

AWS announced that the AWS Startup Ramp is now available in Japan to support entrepreneurs delivering modern products and services in government, civic technology, smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, and space technology, as well as disaster prevention and resilience. AWS Startup Ramp provides startup and their teams with training and support, networking, and AWS credits to address challenges in serving public sector customers and accelerate public sector innovation. Now, early-stage startup teams across the Asia-Pacific Region can apply to the first AWS Startup Ramp cohort before applications close April 7, 2022.

CollPoll uses AWS to help universities digitally transform in India and beyond

The extensive higher education landscape in India poses many challenges, like the rising complexity of administrative and academic activities, increase in student enrollment from a tech-savvy generation, data security issues, and more. The education technology (EdTech) company CollPoll is a full-stack web- and mobile-based campus automation, digital learning, and analytics platform designed to address these challenges with artificial intelligence powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). CollPoll uses the cloud to provide end-to-end automation of key academic and administrative processes to bring digital transformation solutions to educational institutions in India and around the world.
