Approaches for creating FedRAMP high/moderate impact workloads solutions OCONUS using AWS

Numerous US government agencies operate missions outside of the United States. However, they often encounter challenges with limited network bandwidth and unreliable connections from these overseas locations, making it difficult to efficiently use workloads deployed on US soil. To enhance the customer experience and ensure secure access to these workloads, the overseas postings are now exploring hybrid distributed solutions that run closer to the edge. This post delves into the details of these solutions and their potential benefits for federal agencies.

AWS announced AWS Modular Data Center. This new service provides U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) customers with the ability to deploy compute and storage capabilities to support large-scale workloads wherever they need it, including in Disconnected, Disrupted, Intermittent, or Limited (DDIL) environments. Instead of relying on limited data center infrastructure or building from the ground up, this offering delivers a cost-effective, self-contained modular data center solution that supports customers’ data center scale workloads.

10 years of government cloud innovation with AWS GovCloud (US)

Ten years ago, the federal government was only just beginning to adopt cloud computing services. In the early days, there were concerns about how much cloud services would cost and whether they’d be secure enough for sensitive government data. In listening to our government customers, we heard their concerns about cost and security. They also needed to innovate ahead of demand, and required a highly secure and compliant infrastructure to do it. That’s why we launched AWS GovCloud (US) in 2011.

Customers can now connect AWS Outposts to AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

Government customers and commercial organizations in government-regulated industries can now connect their AWS Outposts to the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
