Establishing hybrid connectivity within a Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Medium Cloud reference architecture

Establishing hybrid connectivity within a Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Medium Cloud reference architecture

In this blog post, learn how to establish best-practice hybrid connectivity within a Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) Medium Cloud reference architecture. Amazon Web Services consulted with the CCCS, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) and Shared Services Canada (SSC) to build the CCCS Medium Cloud Reference Architecture. This opinionated and prescriptive architecture can help reduce the time and effort required to implement CCCS Cloud Medium controls from 90+ days to 2 days.

Using AWS Verified Access and SD-WAN to streamline and secure remote application access for federal employees

Using AWS Verified Access and SD-WAN to streamline and secure remote application access for federal employees

How the City of Canton worked with Wi-Fiber to build a safer and more connected community

In 2020, the City of Canton, Ohio set out to build a better, safer, and more connected community. The city worked with government technology (GovTech) company Wi-Fiber, a network infrastructure provider using AWS Direct Connect. Wi-Fiber combined the City of Canton’s wireless hardware, existing copper, and fiber, where available, to connect hundreds of installed devices alongside roadways, intersections, and buildings. In two years, Canton successfully intertwined its legacy infrastructure with Wi-Fiber’s technology to maximize efficacy and minimize cost.

Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, KEK, accelerates search for new vaccines with AWS

Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), is a Nobel Award-winning Inter-University Research Institute, and one of the world’s leading accelerator research institutes. To further help researchers understand human biology, AWS and KEK recently announced a collaboration to develop GoToCloud, a KEK-led cloud platform that makes protein analysis faster and more cost-effective, boosting KEK’s research efforts and improving our understanding of disease. This initiative has also accelerated the digital transformation of Japan’s scientific research infrastructure, helping scientists discover new medicines and produce world-class research results using cloud technology.

How to implement CNAP for federal and defense customers in AWS

In July 2021, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) released a cloud native access point (CNAP) reference design that follows zero trust architecture (ZTA) principles and provides a new approach to access mission owner (MO) applications. The DoD’s reference design discusses four core capabilities of CNAP: authenticated and authorized entities (C1), authorized ingress (C2), authorized egress (C3), and security monitoring and compliance enforcement (C4). In this blog post, we walk through how to establish the C2 component via a virtual internet access point (vIAP) with AWS. The proposed architectures can reduce operational cost and management overhead, while improving the accessibility, resiliency, and security of mission owner applications.

Running government workloads securely at the edge

Edge computing moves data processing and analysis close to endpoints where data is generated to deliver real-time responsiveness, and reduces cost associated with transferring large amounts of data. Edge environments include Internet of Things (IoT) or mobile devices, sensors, video cameras, and other connected resources. With edge, the usual security principles still apply such as protecting data at rest and in motion, but new considerations emerge. Learn more in the new IDC whitepaper.

Enhance operational agility and decision advantage with AWS Snowball Edge

In a data-dependent world, success belongs to the side with decision advantage: the ability to acquire data and make sense of a complex and adaptive environment, and act smarter and faster than the competition. Understanding global environments requires more than just more data – it requires live two- and three-dimensional maps, new support tools, improved processes, seamless connectivity, and better collaboration that can scale to the needs of the environment. This blog post explores how to address challenges of big data and accelerate time to data insights with machine learning with AWS Snowball Edge device deployment at the edge.

Create a common operating picture for search and rescue at the edge with AWS

In a recent disaster response field testing exercise (FTX), the AWS Global Social Impact Solutions (GSI) team developed a prototype cloud architecture and tested it in a search and rescue (SAR) scenario simulating a missing responder crisis. This blog post walks through the SAR simulation and result, and provides an overview of the AWS services and technical architecture components the GSI team used to provide a hybrid edge/cloud COP solution that helped locate the missing team member in the simulated scenario within 20 minutes.

Preparing medical students for essential exams with the cloud-powered DAMS eMedicoz app

The Delhi Academy of Medical Sciences Pvt Ltd (DAMS) is the leading institute for National Eligibility and Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG) preparation for doctors in India. During the pandemic, DAMS shifted its course delivery to its eMedicoz app, an education technology (EdTech) initiative powered by AWS that has reached more than 500,000 verified doctors and medical student subscribers. To keep students connected with real-time learning, DAMS used AWS to deliver live-streamed and two-way interactive classes for thousands of budding doctors through the eMedicoz app.
