Secure your organization’s Internet of Things devices using AWS IoT
The public sector’s use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices is steadily growing, as these organizations learn how to implement and derive value from IoT solutions. Public sector agencies and organizations deploy IoT devices in a variety of areas, such as transportation and infrastructure, crime prevention, education, and utilities and environment. In this post, we are going to use the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency ‘s (CISA) guidelines as a reference to improve the security of your IoT devices and learn how to address vulnerabilities using Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT services.
AWS Canada launches $5 million K12 Cyber Grant Program
Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the launch of the K12 Cyber Grant Program across Canada. To help public schools across Canada implement cloud-based cybersecurity solutions, AWS is investing $5 million CAD in AWS promotional credits to new and existing AWS customers. This program will allow school boards to improve their security posture and advance their ransomware protection. AWS has been architected to be the most flexible and secure cloud computing environment available today and our cloud infrastructure is secure by design and secure by default.
Deploy LLMs in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions using Hugging Face Inference Containers
Government agencies are increasingly using large language models (LLMs) powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI) to extract valuable insights from their data in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US) Regions. In this guide, we walk you through the process of hosting LLMs on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, using the Hugging Face Text Generation Inference (TGI) Container (TGI) for serving custom LLMs.
Wake Forest University builds novel, robust alumni and student app on AWS
Wake Forest is a leading private university in the US with close to 9,000 enrolled students and almost 7,000 faculty and staff. With more than 82,000 degree recipients across all 50 US states and 103 foreign countries, its broader community is vast and growing. To make the most of this diverse community, university leaders want to create connections between individuals across graduating classes, disciplines, and geographies. This post highlights how the school used Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a solution that brings its whole community closer.
Emory University supports AI.Humanity initiative with high-performance computing on AWS
In 2022, Emory launched the AI.Humanity initiative to explore the societal impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and influence its future development to serve humanity. Emory aims to be a leading advocate for ethical use of AI and a top destination for students and faculty seeking to understand and apply its transformative technologies. Read this blog post to learn how Emory uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support the computing needs of AI.Humanity.
Using Protective DNS services with AWS workloads
Protective DNS services, commonly known as PDNS, are a go-to solution if you’re aiming to bolster the security of your infrastructure from the ground up. Unlike traditional methods involving software-based agents or devices for traffic filtering, PDNS services take a unique approach – they scrutinise the DNS requests made by users and adjust responses based on predefined rules within the service. In this post, we explore the seamless integration of PDNS services with workloads in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, showcasing their effectiveness in enhancing cybersecurity within cloud environments.
Disaster response and risk management using PNNL’s Aether framework on AWS
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) developed Aether as a reusable framework for sharing data and analytics with sponsors and stakeholders. Aether is a mature cloud-centered framework designed using Amazon Web Services (AWS) serverless services to provide a cost-effective and reliable environment for a dozen projects currently deployed with the framework. Read this post to learn more about how Aether’s serverless-first approach is enabling disaster response and risk management.
Build a personalized student companion powered by generative AI on Amazon Bedrock
The advent of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) present a transformative opportunity to address long-standing educational challenges around creating more personalized learning. In this post, we explain how to implement a personalized, self-paced student companion that addresses the challenges of tailored learning support by harnessing the power of AI to create a personalized, adaptive learning companion that caters to the diverse needs and skillsets of learners.
Powering the generative AI era: What you missed at the AWS Public Sector Symposium Brussels
On 12 March, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector Symposium Brussels returned to the Brussels Expo in Belgium. The no cost, in-person conference gathered cloud enthusiasts interested in the public sector for a day dedicated to deepening knowledge of how the cloud and generative artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming organizations and businesses around the world. Central to the event were the themes of generative AI, sustainability, security, and— importantly for Europe—digital sovereignty. Read this blog post for all of the key takeaways.
ASPPH scales data curation for members with a data lake on AWS
The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) — a nonprofit association with a vision for improved health and well-being for everyone, everywhere — partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services (AWS ProServe) to move their curated data to a managed data lake on AWS. In this blog post, we share how ASPPH and AWS designed and built the data lake and the results of moving to a modern, scalable data architecture.
